About Me:My Background:
Hello! My name is Ms. Harker, and I am an English teacher at Mission Vista High School. I have spent the past 5 years teaching at Rancho Buena Vista High School, and I now how the pleasure of teaching students at MVHS. This year I will be teaching English 10 and English 11. I was born and raised in North County San Diego where I graduated from San Dieguito Academy High School. I attended California State University Long Beach where I earned a double major in English Education and Literature. While in college, I was an active member of the women’s fraternity Delta Delta Delta, organizing charity events to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In addition to my philanthropic work, I was also able to discover my true passion of traveling while studying abroad at John Cabot University in Rome! Once I graduated, I couldn't help but feel that I needed to get back to my roots, so I moved back home to San Diego where I earned my teaching credential at California State University San Marcos. I couldn't be more thrilled to give back what I have received in the community that molded me into the person I am today! |
My Passions:
I am your stereotypical English teacher who loves to read! There is nothing better than curling up on a cold morning with a hot cup of coffee and a good book. However, those that are close to me know that I am also a crazy plant lady! When I am not tending to my succulents, I try to spend my time staying active, going on hikes, practicing yoga, weight lifting, and attending spin classes. Most recently I have begun a full gut renovation of a 1967 Nomad travel trailer. It is not completely done yet, but it has been a fun summer project and a way for my family and I to get in a little safe vacation time! |
